Warburton Promises Calm After the Storm in New Track “Hurricane”

Nathan Mitchell's full debut LP, also called Hurricane, drops this June.

Warburton

Nathan Mitchell has been consistently releasing singles and EPs as Warburton since 2022, developing a sound that incorporates elements of folk and indie rock into thrumming ballads. Usually relying on guitars for the sonic heavy-lifting, Mitchell is branching out into other sounds and textures; a piano line threads the title track, growing more insistent to match the slow-burn intensity that keeps Hurricane interesting through every listen.

Mitchell uses themes of destruction combined with strong images of weather – the sun behind the clouds, a southern breeze, the changing seasons – to mirror the inevitable cycle of hardship and calm. Consistent through the entire track is a tone of optimism; when the hurricane destroys your house, keep hope that someone will help you rebuild.

Hurricane was co-produced by Mitchell and Jon Savard, with Julie Meunier providing vocal harmonies. Keep an eye out for the full record in June; in the meantime, enjoy the single below.
